Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

School Calendar

We are a school that follows the traditional calendar. View our school's website Calendar page for upcoming events and dates.

Class Placement

Families should now have received a welcome letter from their 2020-21 teacher. If you did not, or need further clarification, please contact the school.

Please find below some helpful information for the first day of school.

Meeting Spots

For September 1 & 2, students will meet their teachers as pre-designated meeting spots. This is also where students will be picked up at the end of the day. Please refer to the attached map. Teachers will be at their meeting spot at 8:15 am.

Entry and Exit Doors

On September 3, students will use their regular entry and exit doors. Students are free to enter at 8:27 am.

Playgrounds

Currently our school playgrounds are closed before and after school. Please remind your children of this.

Assigned Teachers

Each family will receive an email on Friday, August 30, 2019 advising the name of their child’s teacher, room number and the door where they are to line up to enter the school at the 8:30 am bell. Kindergarten parents may accompany their child into the Learning Commons on their staggered entry day. Please watch your email for this information.

Parents are invited for coffee on the asphalt playground following the entry bell on the first day of school (and second day for kindergarten parents due to the staggered entry procedures). This event is sponsored by our School Council.

Kindergarten

We will be having a staggered entry format on the first two days of school: Tuesday, Sept. 1 and Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020. During staggered entry, each kindergarten class is divided in half and each half of the class attends on either the Tuesday OR Wednesday during the normal kindergarten hours. This enables the teachers to introduce students to class routines in a smaller group setting and also allows more opportunity to meet parents and get to know the students.

Kindergarten students will have a staggered entry on the first two days of school as follows:

AM Kindergarten

  • Morning students with last names beginning with the letters
    • A – K attend on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.
  • Morning students with the last names beginning with the letters
    • L – Z attend on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020.

On staggered entry days, morning (AM) kindergarten students and parents should enter the front doors of the school at 8:20 AM and proceed to the Learning Commons.

PM Kindergarten

  • Afternoon students with last names beginning with the letters
    • A – K attend on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.
  • Afternoon students with the last names beginning with the letters
    • L – Z attend on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020.

On staggered entry days, afternoon (PM) kindergarten students and parents should enter the front doors of the school at 12:00 noon and proceed to the Learning Commons.

Thursday, September 3, 2020: All kindergarten students will begin regular classes. AM Kindergarten students will attend classes from 8:30 AM to 11:16 AM. PM Kindergarten students will attend classes from 12:09 PM to 2:55 PM.
