Student Absences / Late Arrival

Parents/Guardians are requested to inform the office if their child is going to be absent or late. Please email the main office university@cbe.ab.ca and cc your child’s teacher. Alternatively you may call the school at 403-777-6240 to leave a message to report an absent or late student (this is available 24 hours a day). If we do not receive notification from you, and your child is marked absent, we will endeavour to contact a parent/guardian to confirm the absence. Taking the time to let us know that your child will be absent before school starts helps us to complete attendance accurately and reduces the number of calls that need to be made from the school office.

Students who are late arriving at the school must report to the office where they should sign in and get a late slip. This allows the office staff to amend the attendance report and ensures that we have an accurate record of attendance in case of an emergency. We ask you to consider our learning environment. Consistent lates negatively impact your child’s learning as well as disrupting the learning of other students in the class.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students regulation applies to all of our students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
