​One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school.​​ You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook​.​

School Council

The School Council is a strong and active advisory body that is integral to University School’s operation and the success we achieve. The School Council works in a collaborative manner with the school administration and staff to significantly enhance the learning opportunities we provide for students. It also provides an opportunity for parents/guardians to learn more about the school, support initiatives, and provide input.

The School Council also helps to coordinate volunteers and sends a volunteer registration form home with the Student Information Package. The minutes of the School Council meetings are available in the top right corner of this page. 

We ask that all parents/guardians make a personal commitment to attend at least one or more School Council meetings during the year. University School is your school and your participation in School Council will help ensure we are able to provide the best possible education for each of our students.

The bylaws (under resources) have been amended by the University School School Council of the 2020/21 year. Please forward any Bylaw questions or comments for discussion prior to the meeting to universityschoolcouncil@gmail.com.
