Important Dates

We are a modified calendar school. However, due to the ongoing health risk of COVID-19, the CBE has made the decision to move all modified calendar schools and programs to the traditional calendar for 2020-21. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

First Day of Classes - Grades 1 - 5

Our first day of classes is Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 and the school office is open to parents on August 26, 2019 at 8:00 am.

Kindergarten  - Staggered Entry

Kindergarten students and their parents are welcome to attend a 30-minute drop in on one of these two days.  Sept 1 8:30-9:30 Group A, Sept 1 1-2 Group B. Sept 2 8:30-9:30 Group C Sept 2 1-2 Group D. Children coming for this drop-in will need to be accompanied by an adult. This process allows children to become familiar with the program with fewer children involved and to spend a shorter amount of time at school. Your child’s teacher will be in contact with you in August to let you know what date your child will be attending. On Thursday September 3, Groups A & C will come to school from 9-10:30 and Groups B & D will come so students have a chance to get to know their teacher and a few peers before our first full day of school on  Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Riding the Bus Flowchart and Checklist
  • Only registered students have bus route and stop information provided through MyCBE / PowerSchool; this is to control the number of students accessing a bus in order to support maintaining healthy distances
  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
  • Students must complete the AHS health assessment every morning before leaving for the bus stop. Students or family members with COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.
  • Masks are mandatory for students K-12, including on school buses
  • All service providers will follow Alberta Education and Alberta Health COVID-19 guidelines
Please visit our Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions page, Transportation Section for more information.

More information about 2020-21 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
