Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Learning Commons / Library

Our Learning Commons

Is the hub for our school learning community. It is for available to all students and is for research, reading and quiet study.

The purpose of the school Learning Commons program is to assist students to become lifelong learners, confident in their ability to personalize information, ideas, and expressions of the imagination. To this end, co-operatively planned units, research, and recreational reading are part of the learning common program where students learn how to retrieve information, process it, and share it.

Borrowing

All books are signed out for a 2 week loan period and are to be returned on or before the due date. Books may be renewed on the due date as long as no one else has requested the material. For checking student's library account, please go to e-library by accessing "My Account" to see the information on due date and outstanding books.

Lost & damaged book charges

There is no charge on the lost and damaged books. When students were asked to replace the book, they can bring the same title as new or used in decent condition.

An orientation is provided in the fall for all students to familiarize them with the processes, routines and guidelines in the library.

Homework Hotel

Monday and Friday mornings at 8:35 for Humanities and Math/Science support.  Students who need homework support or who just need to access a computer or printer in the morning are welcome to come.
