Festival Chorus 

PowerSchool Reference: [Choral Music 10/20/30 5cr_cohort b]

Prerequisite: None – No experience required!

The Festival Chorus provides a safe and supportive environment for treble singers new to the choral program at Western. Members will grow in their understanding of vocal techniques appropriate to their level of development and experience, while learning and performing music from different cultures, languages, and time periods. From madrigals to pop, there’s music for everyone! Partial or Full IB? No problem! With classes outside of the regular timetable, anyone can join! What are you waiting for?! CONNECT. CREATE. CHOIR!

The Festival Chorus meets Mondays and Thursdays during the AM block and runs for the Full Year for 5 credits. 

 

Concert Choir

Prerequisite (Baritone singers): None – No Experience Required!

Prerequisite (Treble singers): One year of experience in the Festival Chorus and teacher recommendation.

The Concert Choir is Western’s mixed voice choir, providing all members an opportunity to develop their vocal skills in a demanding and rewarding environment that promotes risk-taking in a safe and supportive space. Through the performance of music from different cultures, languages, and time periods, students will explore different ways of thinking as they expand their understanding of choral music and its place in the world around them. From madrigals to pop, there’s music for everyone! Partial or Full IB? No problem! With classes outside of the regular timetable, anyone can join! What are you waiting for?! CONNECT. CREATE. CHOIR!

Electronic Music 10 

PowerSchool Reference: [General Music 10_5cr]

Prerequisite: None

New to Western for 2022-2023! Students have an opportunity to work in a Mac based lab with attached MIDI keyboards, making use of composition software recognized industry wide for music production.  Topics covered include music production in a wide variety of styles, music theory, history and appreciation.  While musical experience is an asset, it is not required to take part in this program.
