Social Studies students will find 2 sections of the library most useful:

  • topics related to the Social Sciences will be found in the 300's.
  • topics related to History or Geography will be found in the 900's.

Online Library Catalogue

To search for specific resources in the WCHS library collection, use the online Library Catalogue. This video tutorial will help you get started with using the Catalogue.

e-Books

The Gale Virtual Reference Library has useful e-books for social studies students. 

Look under History and Nation & World to find titles like The Encyclopedia of Genocide & Crimes Against Humanity, Middle East Conflict 2nd Edition, The Encyclopedia of Philosophy or the Worldmark Junior Encyclopedia of Nations.

For home use, your password is our school team name.

The Online Reference Centre has credible academic resources chosen specifically for Alberta students. 

Try Canada in Context, Curriculum Video On Demand,  Global Issues in Context, World History in Context, and the Canadian Encyclopedia. IB students should try Academic OneFile.
