Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

First Day of Classes

Staggered Start to School Year:

We are beginning our school year by limiting the number of students entering the school over the first three days. The purpose of the plan is:

  • To ease the transition of students into school,
  • To facilitate physical distancing while teaching the protocols of our health measures.

Our first three days will look like this:

 Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 – Only Grades 3 and 5 attend school.

  • Grade 3s meet their teacher outside the southwest doors of the school (facing Westminster Dr.)
  • Grade 5s meet their teacher between the northeast doors and the warm-up doors (between the school and the rink)

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 – Only Kindergarten (Last initial A-L), Grade 2 and Grade 4 attend school. Kindergarten students attend according to their designated half day, either AM (8:00 - 10:50) or PM (11:44 - 2:34). Grades 2 and 4 attend all day.

  • Kindergarten students meet their teacher outside the main entrance of the school.
  • Grade 2s meet their teacher between the northeast doors and the warm-up doors (between the school and the rink)
  • Grade 4s meet their teacher on the compound (by the Gagaball pit)

Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 - Kindergarten (Last initial M-Z), Grades 1 and 6 attend school. Kindergarten students attend according to their designated half day, either AM (8:00 - 10:50) or PM (11:44 - 2:34).  Grades 1 and 6 attend all day.

  • Kindergarten students meet their teacher outside the main entrance of the school.
  • Grade 1s meet their teacher outside the southwest doors.
  • Grade 6s meet their teacher on the compound (by the Gagaball pit).

All Grade 1 - 6 students and AM Kindergarten students will attend on Friday, September 4th according to our regular schedule.

We will follow our regular bell schedule for these four days.  Parents are welcome to accompany their children to the meeting place and introduce themselves to their child’s teacher. We will follow all protocols for physical distancing and mask-wearing.  We also ask that parents and caregivers remain outside the building.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.
