Ways to Get Connected

Email Communication / School Messenger

School information and newsletters will be sent via email whenever possible and posted on our website.

Email communication will only reach you if you have subscribed to School Messenger.

Teachers value the insight they receive from parent messages and will reply to email and phone messages before and after school in as timely a manner as possible. During the school day they are asked to be focussed on teaching and learning with students. Evening and weekend messages will be answered the next teaching day.

Unless there is an emergency, messages to classrooms will be sent from the office to students twice each day, just before lunch and just before dismissal.

D2L - Classroom information and assignments will be posted on a classroom D2L (Desire to Learn) internet site. Students will be able to access this site at home using their student identification number and their CBE password.

Communication Folders - Students will also have a communication folder for important information that is sent home in print form such as field trip consent forms and reminders.

Room Parent Communication – Parents subscribing to School Messenger will be contacted by the Room Parent at times throughout the year. Room Parents assist with communicating special events, field trips, and volunteer opportunities on behalf of homeroom teachers and the School Council.

Communication

We strive to communicate regularly with parents through our school website, teacher blogs, notices, emails (SchoolMessenger) and face-to-face meetings. Important paper notices will be sent in an envelope, which may be found in your child’s backpack. Ongoing, two-way communication between home and school is essential in our partnership effort to provide the children of West Springs School with successful learning experiences. Your first point of contact is always your child’s classroom teacher. Please feel welcome to make an appointment to talk to your child’s teacher if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. If your concerns need further attention, please do not hesitate to call the office and arrange a meeting with administration.
