Attendance Procedures

Parents/guardians are asked to advise the school of all absences and late arrivals. The school checks attendance daily. The school will attempt to contact the parents on any unreported and unexcused absences.

We prefer phone calls over emails.  Call before school starts and for planned absences, provide advanced notice.

Please call and leave a message on the attendance line at 403-777-8430 extension 1 to let us know of your child’s absence. In the message tell us:

  • your child’s name
  • teacher
  • details of the absence

When students leave early during the day parents/guardians must sign out their child. We need to know where the students are at all times.

Students are expected to be punctual. If a child is late, he/she must first check in at the office to obtain a late slip before attending class. Lates will be noted on the report card.

Early Student Dismissal

A student may not leave the school prior to regular dismissal times without getting permission from the office. Students may not go home until someone in authority at home is contacted to give permission. When leaving the school even with a parent/guardian, students must stop with their parent/guardian in the office and be signed out. Upon arrival back at school, students must check in at the office. Students wishing to leave for medical or dental appointments, or for other reasons, must bring a note or the parent must contact the school.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students regulation applies to all of our students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
