Security Protocols

We believe that a strong relationship between parents and teachers is an important part of the culture at William Reid School. We want parents to feel welcome at the school to volunteer, to speak with a teacher, or even to see what is up on the bulletin boards.  However, to maintain security, we do ask that you respect the following security protocols:

  • Enter by front door only
  • Sign in at the office as soon as you have entered
  • Wear a name tag while volunteering
  • Sign your child out at the office for appointments
  • Sign your child in at the office if arriving late
  • Call the office for absences/last minute bus changes
  • Communicate clearly with teacher about all after-school arrangements (Send a written note)
  • Carefully complete and return intake and registration forms in September
  • Call the office to update a change in guardian or contact information immediately

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
