There are many ways you can contribute to our school’s success, and make a difference for our school and our students. In our school, this can include providing in-kind donations, contributing cash and lending expertise and technical knowledge. Connect with our principal on what may be appropriate. Fundraisers & Donations

Octoberfest 2021

Hello!

Welcome to William Reid School’s biennial parent Fundraiser - OKTOBERFEST! William Reid School’s fundraiser will be a CHEQUE-WRITING CAMPAIGN this year.

The campaign is officially launched right now and during the entire month of OCTOBER and will run for approximately one month.

Where does the money go?

YOUR children!

William Reid's biennial Oktoberfest fundraiser rallies parents, teachers, students and friends of William Reid School to raise needed funds to support our amazing school and staff! Items such as computers / technology, student agendas, student assistance, and teacher resources. These are some examples of how these funds are used to enhance your child’s experience at William Reid School.

Also, in non-COVID years we have a number of amazing, community building special events! So please keep in mind, the funds raised this year will contribute to the AWESOME events we are able to hold in the 2022-2023 school year!

How important is this fundraiser?

Very important!

If this is your first OKTOBERFEST you may not be aware of the history around this event. Years ago, our Parent Council decided to combine all of our fundraising efforts into just two fundraisers: a casino and an evening social event, held in alternating years. Parents loved this change: going all in for two large fundraisers, one per year, instead of having smaller fundraisers throughout the year. Do you remember knocking on your neighbours doors to sell magazine subscriptions, wrapping paper, chocolates? Or holding bake sales?! With this event your child(ren) (and let’s face it - YOU) don’t need to peddle these wares (and many… many others….) to your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues (did I hear a whoop of joy?) Although we are not asking our kids to “sell” anything, this fundraiser does still require donations and participation from all within our school community to be a success!

What happened to the party?!

In the past, OKTOBERFEST has been an in person, social fundraising event organized by William Reid School parents. The most recent event was held in November 2019 at the National on 17th Ave. Unfortunately, due to the ever changing status of restrictions, and the general risks associated with COVID-19, instead of throwing an Oktoberfest Fundraising Party, this year’s fundraising event will be:
