Grade 9 Students, Parents and Guardians,
High School registration for the
2022-2023 year is approaching for our Willow Park School students. To
assist with the decisions and choices that need to be made, many of the schools
will be holding Virtual Open Houses and Information Nights.
General Information
All grade 9 students in Calgary are
designated to a high school based on their registered home address and
this is the high school where Willow Park School will be facilitating your
registration. If you are unsure of
the designated high school for your community please use the following link to
determine this information: CBE - Find A School
Willow Park School registers students at eight public high
schools. Central
Memorial, Henry Wise Wood, Lord Beaverbrook, Joanne Cardinal Schubert, Dr. EP
Scarlett, Centennial, Western Canada and Ernest Manning. Parents
and students are encouraged to attend the virtual open house and parent
information sessions for each designated school.
All virtual open house and
information sessions this year will use Microsoft Teams. Please follow
the link provided to download this software in order to access those meetings
for your respective designated high school: Microsoft Teams - Free Download
Students that are interested in
information and/or attending other high schools are encouraged to visit the
websites of those high schools for registration information, course offerings
and application deadlines. Willow Park School coordinates designated
school registration only. Any transfers and/or applications to specialized
programs need to be initiated independently by the family.
All high schools provide Alberta
Mandated Curriculum in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science,
Mathematics, Physical Education and CALM (Career and Life Management). Optional
courses vary from school to school and students are encouraged to seek out that
information to learn more about what is available for programming.
Special Programs
Specific Information regarding
International Baccalaureate (Henry Wisewood for Area 5) and Advanced Placement
courses (offered in most high school settings) can be accessed by attending
information sessions at each high school.
Information on special programs
such as - Performing and Visual Arts - PVA (Central Memorial), CTC (Career and
Technology Centre), are available on the CBE website. Due dates and
applications for these programs are available on the CBE website. Please
note: ALTERNATIVE programs - PVA (Central Memorial) have early application
deadlines in January and February.
Mr. Khubyar made presentations to all of
our Grade 9 homerooms in October and has shared information about the high
school model, course sequencing pathways, AP and IB registration information,
and special programs available in the CBE that require specific application
processes. Please open a conversation at home with your child about the
information shared at these sessions.
Students,
parents and guardians are encouraged to subscribe to the Willow Park School - High School Registration

and will provide all information regarding the high school registration
process, will list all Virtual open house dates and times and house other key
