Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Find the latest information on the CBE website and the Alberta Government website.

School Supply Lists

In Grades 5 & 6, CBE schools will continue to purchase basic school supplies, including paper, pencils, erasers, duo tangs, glue etc.

In Grades 7-9, families will need to purchase student school supplies (similar to a couple of years ago). Students are encouraged to bring essential supplies (not the entire list) on the first day of school: paper, pencil crayons, pencils, and erasers. When students are settled, HR teachers will review specific items with each grade.

***Once lockers are assigned, students are to have their necessary AM or PM supplies with them and are not to go to their lockers between classes as there is only a 2 minute transition time between classes.

Supply lists can be found under "Resources"

Noon Supervision

Grade 5 & 6 students must remain on school grounds for the lunch hour unless parents/guardians contact the office regarding them going home for lunch or for appointments.

Grade 7, 8 & 9 students have off campus privileges. Students may not go to Southcentre Mall or Walmart during the lunch hour. Students who have parent permission to go off campus must be mindful of the time and are encouraged to be back on school grounds for the warning bell at 12:49 PM.

Students staying at school will be supervised in the school and are requested to bring a nutritious lunch daily including a variety of snacks should additional hunger strike. There is a vending machine at WPS that MAY be available during non-instructional times.

**As we have students with nut allergies, we are a peanut sensitive school and encourage students to not bring foods containing nuts to school with them.

WPS has a small cafeteria (The Servery) that has healthy snacks, lunch entrées, soups and beverages available for purchase on a cash only system. The Servery will be open Monday to Thursday effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Assigned Teachers/Classes

Information concerning assigned teachers and classrooms will be available for viewing in PowerSchool by Tuesday August 31, 2021.

Teachers and Administration have put a great deal of thought and time into creating class lists. Consideration is given to making sure that students have good academic peers with them, that class sizes are equal, and that learning needs in each class are balanced. Due to this time and effort, class changes are highly discouraged and will only be made in rare circumstances.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2021-22 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
