Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Back to School Information

First Day of Classes

There is no staggered entry for the 2021-22 school year.  The first day of school for all students will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

School Start and End Times

Our bell times are:

Soft start:  8:40-8:55

Doors will open at 8:40 am so students can enter the school upon arrival and go right to their classroom without having to line up at their entrance door.  This will allow for social distancing at entry doors.  Classes commence at 8:55 am.

Soft dismissal: 3:35 (dismissal bell 3:40)

We will be implementing a soft end to the day for Grades 1-6.  This means that teachers will begin dismissing their classes (starting with older students) in a supervised, staggered manner to allow for social distancing while students meet up with their families.

School Calendar

We are a school that follows the traditional calendar. View our school's Calendar for upcoming events and dates.

School Supplies

All students are required to have a back pack and lunch bag (if you are part of the Noon Supervision program). Indoor shoes are brought to school the first day of school and left at school. Many backpacks and shoes look alike; please label all student possessions.

Noon Supervision

Lunch Registration

In order to eat lunch at school in our lunchroom program, all students must be registered. For more specific information as to cost and registration procedures, please see our Noon Supervision page.

Registration and payment can be done through MyCBE/PowerSchool account.

Woodbine School operates a four-day lunchroom program for all students from Grades 1 - 6.

Please remember to call our lunchroom line to report a child’s absence/drop-in at
403-777-8630 extension 2.

Woodbine School operates a “Peanut-Aware” lunchroom. We discourage peanut products in the lunchroom but cannot guarantee a “peanut free” environment. Please let us know if your child has food allergies and requires support. For more information on how to deal with allergies, please see our Illness and Medical page.

Snacks and lunches should be easy for children to manage. Hot water and microwaves are not accessible for students.

During lunch recess, supervision is provided for students attending the lunch program.  Students who go home for lunch should return no more than 5 minutes prior to the 1:00 pm entry bell and line up with their class to re-enter school.

Assigned teachers

On Monday, August 30, by end of day, teachers will be e-mailing families to let you know whose class your child has been assigned to.

Registration Information

Our School Office opens on Friday Aug. 27, 2021.

Please visit our How to Register page for registration details and forms.

School Parking Lot

Please note that the parking lot is not available for visitor/volunteer parking. We ask that you refrain from parking in the parking lot. The parking lot is only accessible to CBE employees as staff members have assigned parking and arrive at various times throughout the day. For safety reasons, DO NOT use the parking lot to drop-off or pick-up children.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2021-22 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
