Determinations of Designated and Out-of-Boundary Students

Every child in Calgary has a designated school based on their home address and the program they choose. You can apply to attend any school, even if it is not your designated school, although application does not guarantee acceptance. Each principal determines if their school has capacity to accept out-of-boundary students. At Woodman School, students join as continuous registrations from the following feeder schools:

Regular Program
(Grade 7-9)
Haysboro School
Chinook Park School (Entry Point: Grade 7)
Continuing French Program
(Grade 5-9)
Janet Johnstone (Entry Point: Grade 5)
Chinook Park School (Entry Point: Grade 7)
Late French Program
(Grade 7)
All schools south of Glenmore Trail and west of Macleod Trail

If you would like to transfer from one CBE school to another, please refer to the instructions in the request to transfer form.

School principals, in consultation with the Area 6 office, make decisions in a team-based approach, for all Transfer Request Forms that have been collected by the stated due date and decisions will be communicated back to families by early-mid May.  As indicated in the Transfer Request Form, priority may be given to requests for families who already have a sibling registered at the school for the upcoming school year.   Response times may be dependent upon the timing and release of school budgets.

Notice Regarding Overflow Designation for Kindergarten to Grade 9 Regular Program Students Attending Elboya School

Elboya School is projected to be over capacity for the 2023-24 school year. The school will not be able to accommodate all students who live within the school boundary. Immediate short-term adjustments are needed to ensure that we can continue to offer strong learning opportunities to all students.

We must designate overflow schools for all new regular program registrations for elementary and junior high grades at Elboya School for the 2023-24 school year to Chinook Park School or Woodman School, dependent on the student’s grade. Please review the full notice for detailed information.

Notice Regarding Overflow Designation for Kindergarten to Grade 9 Students Attending Rideau Park School

Rideau Park School is projected to be over capacity for the 2023-24 school year. The school will not be able to accommodate all students who live within the designated school boundary. Consequently, we will introduce a cap on enrolment at Rideau Park School and designate overflow schools for students in elementary and junior high grades.

Effective immediately, new registrations that cannot be accommodated at Rideau Park School for the 2023-24 school year will be overflowed to Chinook Park School or Woodman School, dependent on the student’s grade. Please review the full notice for detailed information.
