Dear William Taylor Families, It sure feels like Winter now...that came quickly! We are now entering the last week of school before break, as students' last day of school is December 17th. Classes resume on January 6th. Students and staff at William Taylor have embraced the Winter Season, termed Ipákssaisstoyi in Blackfoot. Students have been engaged in some festive activities, including refurbishing old wooden palettes with planers, sanders, and paint, to create beautiful seasonal decorations! I am truly impressed with their craftmanship! The outdoor education class has taken advantage of the fresh snow, and are often found practicing their cross-country ski skills in the afternoons. This is one of my favourite Winter activities, as it helps me feel connected to the land and those around me. The students also seemed to enjoy themselves outside, in spite of the cold weather! Next week, students will share in some school spirit activities. They will have fun with a Christmas door decorating contest, Christmas lunch (in their classrooms), hot chocolate cart and snowshoeing (if weather and snow permits). We look forward to a time when we can invite all our families for an in-person lunch once again as we miss the opportunity to build community through family events. On behalf of us all here at WTLC, please take care over the holiday season, and do let us know if you have any questions or would like support.
