Back to School Information

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes is August 15, 2022 and the school office is open to parents on Aug, 10, 11, and 12 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

School Start and End Times

William Taylor Learning Centre

Our first day of classes is August 15, 2022.
Our bell times are:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:40 AM to 2:35 PM
  • Friday: 8:40 AM to 12:30 PM

George Wood Learning Centre

Our first day of classes for is August 15, 2021.
Our bell times are:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:40 AM to 3:06 PM
  • Friday: 8:40 AM to 12:06 PM.

Satellite Senior High Program at Central Memorial High School

Our first day of classes is Sept. 1, 2022. (Visit the Central Memorial High School website for bell times)

Satellite Junior High Program at Georges P. Vanier

Our first day of classes is Sept. 1, 2021. (Visit the Georges P. Vanier School website for bell times)

School Calendar

William Taylor & George Woods Learning Centre are on modified calendar while Satellite Programs are on traditional calendar. View our school Calendar page for more information. See the CBE website for system calendars.

Lunch Supervision

Our students are supervised at all times. We offer foods service at William Taylor Learning Centre, our hot breakfast and lunch program will begin on our first day.

Assigned Teachers

You will receive a phone call from one of the member’s of your child’s classroom team before the first day of school to introduce them to you and your child.

Students with Complex Learning Needs Transportation

The pre-registration for students with complex learning needs bus transportation has started. Routes for the school year are created over the summer based on the addresses submitted before the May cut off. If your address changes over the summer, it is necessary to update your information. Please contact transportation@cbe.ab.ca or call 403-817-7433 for assistance.

Transportation Forms can be found on the CBE website.

Transportation is provided by Four Seasons Transportation. You will be contacted directly by the transport company with bus route and pick up schedule.

In June you were contacted to complete a Complex Needs Transportation registration form. If you did not complete the form, please contact the school office at 403-270-1751. More information about 2020-21 transportation service levels and fees can be found on the CBE website.

The policies and procedures contained within our site are to serve as guidelines for our school community. We reserve the right to deviate from the policies and procedures outlined within our site and take into consideration the individual circumstances and the best interests of the school community.

​​​​​​Do You Have a MyCBE Account? Have You Added Your Child(ren) To the Account?

Parents / Legal Guardians / Independent Students who have not already done so, must create a MyCBE account and add their child(ren) to the account to:

  • access your child’s program information (e.g., course assessments, daily attendance record, report card)
  • view your child’s learning using Brightspace by D2L
  • pay fees and request waivers
  • register for transportation and lunch ​supervision
  • book parent-teacher conferences
  • submit online school forms (required for 2023-24 school year)

You will need your email address on file at the school as well as your child’s CBE ID, which can be found on the:

  • SchoolEngage student profile, for families that registered their child using SchoolEngage.

  • CBE Report Card, beside the child's name

Subscribe to School Messages

Most school messages are sent to parents through SchoolMessenger. It’s a mass communication tool that allows schools to easily and securely send email, phone and text messages to parents / guardians, independent students in a particular grade, class, school or area. Messages are sent to the parent contacts on file at your school.​​

To ensure you receive important information from your child’s school and the Calgary Board of Education, subscribe to school messages.​

​​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
